Finally we put together out first Iris2 release. It should be quite stable (but yes there are bug left :) and some things look a bit ugly). You can find the download link of the newest windows version at

for linux you will need a compiled ogre3d and the stable source from our SVN:

PS: you probably need to adjust data/config.lua to add your account data and your uo directory.
if you dont know where to test you can use the following server (but beware this is only a temporary small and slow testserver). just put this in the config.lua (in a directory called "data" in the iris path).

don't forget to adjust ACCOUNTNAME and PASSWORD. but keep in mind that this is just a small temporary test server.

PPS: if you encounter problems starting the updater, this could be a dll incompatibility. Probably installing the visual studio c++ redist SP1 package

Post subject:  Can´t start iris2
Is it necessary to have the 3d client to play this?I´ve installed it then I got this "CreateProcess failed; code 14001". After this I clicked iris icon and got this message "iris2 could not find character models in your uo dir please install AOS or ML (see README)"

My uo is updated.

for the 3d part you need the models of osi's 3d client. but probably one can use the 2d renderer without it (you need to set the renderer in the config to 2d and deactivate the granny loader stuff, see config.lua.dist). but i don't know if someone tested this yet.

iris2 loads the character models from the 3d client, so you will not see people and monsters, even if you disable the warning.
please try installing those two :

@Gaukler: Yep, we did it. We haven't the time to test Iris2 like users did. So we hope to get many bugreports (via Trac Tickets), to fix them.

Don't be angry if Iris2 don't work out-of-the box. It's not commercial and we did it in our freetime. Currently my life is changing (new job aso.), so please stay tuned for new versions.

Please don't use the OpenGl renderer with WindowsXP, it has very low fps compared to Direct3D.

Only use Direct3D renderer!

well, this slowlyness seems to be dependent at least partially on your graphics card, so just try which renderer is better on your computer.
