Hi,

I a a new Iris user and am having trouble getting it working. I have installed it with Mondains Legacy, the VB pack etc...

My PC is a 3.2Ghz Intel CPU, 2GB Ram, 256MB Nvidia 7600GT PCI.

I have tried both DirectX & OpenGL, fullscreen and windowed mode (with both).

Basically I start up, I see the main window come up with the Iris logo displayed and fps count etc... along the top.

I have the menu selection on the top left listing the shards I can join. Immediately after I select one of the menu items (whether it's a shard or the graphic config) Iris crashes. The crash screen is shown here...

There is NO stacktrace.log generated for this problem.

There is an ogre.log generated, it looks very similar to a previous post here on the forums, can't find the skeleton's bone's...

hi and welcome, sorry you're having trouble.

the "can't find the skeleton's bone's" aren't bad, you can ignore them.

are you using the binary build for windows or did you compile yourself ? did you run the updater before playing ?


@sience : have you made a debug built by accident ? breakpoints should not normally occur in release builds... very strange.

Yes I used the windows binary download.

Yes I updated through the patcher, I have tried both Stable and Unstable versions.

Do you installed UO-Gold or UO-ML and updated upto 6.0.1.3 ?

Can you post a screenshot from your Iris Console? Please post also your config.lua (remove Loginname/PW).

OK,

I re-installed Iris 2. I also re-installed UO, it is UO-ML patched up to 6.0.1.3

No other custom files have been added (ie: no shard specific stuff).

So Patched UO, Downloaded Iris: Same Problem, both OpenGL & Directx

Patched UO, Updated Iris - Stable Version: Same Problem, both OpenGL & Directx

Patched UO, Updated Itis - Unstable Version: Same Problem, both OpenGL & Directx.

I have reduced screen size to 640x480 so I can show the console as well. Note I am doing this in windowed mode as when I do fullscreen the crash causes me to have to reboot PC (can't get back to windows)

My config.lua with these latest tests was the default one which came with the iris install.

I also installed Iris to the default C drive location.

I updated my NVidia drivers last night to the latest version.

You're not alone in this problem - I'm getting the same error even after an Iris re-install. It's confusing, as I had Iris working just a month or so ago...

If I find a solution I'll post for you.

Strange. Basically i have no clue.

The only difference I see is, that you are using Windows XP Home Edition.

Do you have another PC to test on? Maybe with ATI graphicchip?

Sorry but i have currently no idea.

I've tried this on another PC, one with an onboard Intel Graphics set, and also one which I've previously been able to run Iris2 successfully, however I still can't get it to start up, it always crashes when I try to select a shard.

I've also re installed and patched UO up to 5.0.9 but this hasn't made a difference.

Bumping this incase anyone else's had this problem and overcome it :)

Strange. Do you installed a UO version with grannys? Is there a Models directory?

Did Iris2 run on your other tested pcs?

The skeleton bone warnings are ok! Thats only a debug message for us. No Error.

Maybe some other dev. has an idea?

You can try to go directly into the offline mode when using commandline options.

just start Iris2 like that:
