Iris 2 will need an patch option where you write down a html link or ftp server...

and it should download the files to a certain directory and it also should use that directory for that server everytime you log in... the patching dosent have to be automatic (I mean it dosent have to check patch size or whatever every time.. it can also be just a button you press)

The thing is that many custom shards have custom static files and maps and so on and so forth and an option like this will make the client even nicer...

Iris2 has an Updater with a button and an "stable" "unstable" option as well.

But this is only for Windows (for now) and only for the core Iris2 distribution.

I think you talk about distributing custom UO files?

Thats a different point. As Iris2 is open source and every shard can modify Iris2 for his needs. They can also get our update Tool ( http://zwischenwelt.org/trac/iris/browser/tools/updater ) and modify it for their needs (add an option to also download the custom UO files).

I think its not our building site, to build a distribution system for custom shard files.

We build the Core Application. Thats a lot of work. I think, if a shard uses Iris2 they could implement this little feature theirself and give it back to the Iris2 project.

I think this is fair enough.

ps: it very easy to modify our updater (win32) to support custom uo files.

we're planning on adding a "plugin" directory where you can put custom lua scripts and they will be executed at startup,
maybe that's what you mean ?

what do you plan to patch in iris ?
then we can focus on adding hooks for that first.

Yeah I was thinking about the statics.mul files and staidx.mul files... as that is a bit important for custom servers that has frozen down a couple of things :P or like me has almost redone whole ilshenar...

Not saying that its needed... as we just download the patch files from the shard with uo connect... but it would be cool if you guys fixed so we wouldent have to use uo connect for that...

And you own serverlist database :P so that when you start up iris you get a large list over servers... :P

and yeah I know I am nagging :P
