I want to Pack Iris2.

For Example: I Want To Pack All Files to a Folder moving ultima online .mul,model, texture,gump files to iris/data folder and make iris don't need ultima online setup.

What Files Iris2 Needs To Work ? Is There a List For It ?

first be aware that is probably not legal to redistribute the original ultima files this way due to ea/osi copyright. i'd suggest asking a lawyer before offering a public download of anything like that.

iris needs most files in main dir (except .exe and .dll) and the folders music/ and models/ (models only for 3d mode, 2d works without that)

hmm i'm going to make FULLY Support 3D Ultima Online (NGU Online) Server and Don't Want 2d Anymore.

and if ea doesn't want copy their files then i'm gonna make a program that connects to my server and check update files, then if need patch them ( my custom map0.mul, gumpart.mul etc. ) then open Iris2 automatically in 3D mode.

and a question, i don't want my player's change my lua scripts, then i'll write a header all scripts first line like:
-- NGU Online Checksum: 0xAEF5

i'm gonna make a loader for my shard that checks updates, manage settings, check files, set macros and load Iris2.

is this a problem for you ?

If your modified version is also opensourced (GPL) it's fine =)
A small link to the iris hp would be appreciated.

i'm from Turkey and in my Country open source codes are stealing and they'll change

--NGU Online to XYZ ULTIMA ONLINE SHARD

and they says: "WE Do IT".

They aren't Respectful to other people works.

because of that i'm in trouble to make it open source(gpl)

on the other hand; The Iris2 Logo already In Loading Screen, MainMenu, and When Press "l".

And when the game site open i'll put a link and a image there "Powered By Iris2"

Form my standpoint GPL is GPL and if you modify the source you have to make it open too.

We also make Iris2 opensource. We don't have todo this, but we did, because we want to support all shards...esp. custom shards.

But we also want, that improvements find a way back to to Iris2. I hope you understand that :-).

A custom (closed source) Binary compiled Lua-Plugin is maybe an option. But i don't know if it's possible when using a GPL client.

If your implementation is good, it maybe finds a way into Iris2. This way you don't have to merge all files, everytime we update Iris2. When creating a custom shard, you have lots todo. You wouldn't have to time to patch Iris2 the whole time.
Nevertheless you can make a custom Mainmenu, Paperdoll, Tooltips aso.
You just have to tell us what you need to make custom and we will add options, overrides for it.

You should really think of it.

GPL is GPL Right :) then i'll make the client gpl but, my updater will control all files with my server files and marge automatically :)

then final think:
- make client Open Source (GPL) who wants it, he can read/write/change but cannot connect to my server :)
- make runuo based server fully supports iris2 3d client.
- Iris2 Logo will Appear at Loading, MainMenu Screen.
- The game site will have a backlink to "http://www.iris2.de" named "Powered By Iris2" or an image.

- Character Creation Menu
- Character Select Menu
- Maps

If you have a custom Updater thats ok.

I hope it's not too much work for you to merge updates. I thought about it and one Idea is, you just create a different lua directory.

Maybe lua_Sehlorshard and link the Iris2.exe binary to this folder instead to the lua folder. Then you have everything custom, but the benefit is, that you can update.

But that is just an Idea.

If you want it custom, feel free :-).

:) Thanks sience i'll introduce you my works :) and publish my bugfixes for general use for Iris2 :)
