Im going to post "snippets" of information here about things regarding creating content for Iris2. For now ill use this, later add them up into a better organized wiki page.

Any Iris2 content creation releated findings are welcome here, however small it might be. :)

Exporting models from 3DSMAX to Iris2.

- Scale for Iris2 is one "generic" unit in 3DSMAX. Means that one tile (1x1) in Iris2 equals 1x1 generic units in 3DSMAX.

- Needs exporter that supports "up axis" option. All Ogre exporters defaults to up axis of Y. Iris2 however uses up axis of Z. If the up axis is wrong, exported model in Iris2 will show up incorrect(rotated, laying on the ground). Known exporters that support up axis option are:

http://www.ogre3d.org/wiki/index.php/Og ... e_Exporter

NOTES:
This might be better to start using Y for models as the default and fix them in Iris2 instead?

Working with shaders for Iris2.

coming soon...

Blender To Iris

*You need the export script OgreXMLConverter to make item.mesh.xml
*You need also the Command-line Tools to convert item.mesh.xml to item.mesh
http://www.ogre3d.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=413&Itemid=133

Before export your item go in editing mode, select your item and press "w" and "flip normal" to a good ingame visual.

After place your item in custom directory.

Orientation of your mesh

For a good orientation of your item the best way is to place the point of origin of your item same as the origin of your blender grid.

*left clic near the origin blender grid
*repeat this with all cam view (1 3 and 7 keys)
*Shift+S and Cursor>Grid. Now your cursor is exactly at the center of the grid in all axes
*go in Object mode (press "tab" if you was in editing mode)
*clic center cursor in mesh menu. The origin of your item is now at the origin of the grid.
