Guys!! I´m speechless with the work you´re developing here!
This UO fully in 3d is awesome. I congratulate you guys for this huge initiative.

I was indicated to this forum by my friend Iuri_BR and I want to ask if you intend to do a cinematic video for the intro of the game. If you do, I´m studying hi-poly modeling for a while and I will be proud to help.

To see some of my works, it´s just send me a PM

All the best

hi there =)

iris2 development is going fast, we might even reach a playable state by the end of march, so we will soon need bumpmaps and shaders to improve important graphics, especially water, walls and grass.

Hi there,

great to hear, that people are waiting for the first Iris2 release.

If you want to take a look at the current UO 3D-Character Models you can download your "old" development tools from our download page at berlios. Start the Grannyviewer (you first have to edit the xml/config.xml file for your current UP-Path).
With the newest Grannyviewer, you are also able to save the *.grn Models and Animations to a loadable Fileformat (*.SMD - halflife1). This SMD-Fileformat you can load with Blender or Milkshape.

If yo want to create new Models (characters/monsters/ or Items [statics])for our Iris2 release, please take a look at the http://www.ogre3d.org/ community. There you find Export/Import-Plugins to export Ogre Models and Skeletons.

i hope this helps a bit.

@Gabriel: In nice Intro would be awesome. But its much work and we Devs (Ghoulsblade, Hagish, and I) have very little time to help you for that. Because we hardly develop Iris2.

I am very happy to see that will be released a new version of iris. This great project will do possible to play the great game called UO, natively in GNU/Linux. And will be possible an to port to other platforms(OSX,Haiku/BeOS , Solaris, *BSD). The change of 2d world to 3d is great too!

Thanks to iris and iris2 developers!

some vertexshader for having nice looking grass acutally move in the wind would also be nice, or some flowers here and there in a field of grass would be nice if that could be generated using pixel shaders.

i have seen some nice things possible with shaders here and there, but i lack experience in shader programming, and there is still much todo for me iris2 besides graphics, so help in that area would be very welcome =)

some links to show whats possible with ogre and the right shader techniques :
water : http://ogre3d.org/index.php?set_albumNa ... _album.php
forest-like : http://ogre3d.org/index.php?set_albumNa ... _album.php
grasslike : http://ogre3d.org/index.php?set_albumNa ... _album.php

we got ogre, so next we'll need the right shader techniques =)

Nice. We need a lot of nice Plants and Tree. FOr Trees we want to add a System like Speedtree. Only some special Tree should be meshes.

Do you know the Plants from UO. You can get an export Tool for Blender from the Ogre website. When you have created a plant (mesh+material (texture+shaders)) you can send it to me and i build it in, instead of the current plants model. You only have to tell ne the Static ID, which model to exchange.
