I'm having a little problem getting Iris to work. I'm new to this software but a big fan of the concept. I'm using UOML patched to 6.0.11.0, but haved also tried various earlier patches all the way back to 6.0.0.0. The server software is RunUO svn 300, I've tried this on both a base, stock server and a highly customized one. I've tried connecting locally and remotely, on staff and player chars, everytime it connects, it says Net:Requesting Clentversion 3 and pops up a couple of graphics, including part of the radar window, then freezes till it gives me the SegFault detected error. I'm thinking its probably something on my end, as it does the exact same thing on both servers everytime I connect.

hi =) yep, it can be tricky to get it to run sometimes.
i use 6.0.9.2 ml usually.

what operating system are you on ? (win2k,xp,vista,linux-distros, 32 bit or 64 bit ?)

if you are on win, please try deleting bin/ogre.cfg so that the graphics config dialog reappears at startup, then try directx instead of opengl, to see if that crashes as well.

try updating to "unstable" in the updater as well if you used stable, maybe it's something that was fixed since the last stable release.

also, try adding a line to data/config.lua :
gCurrentRenderer = Renderer2D
and see if it also crashes in 2d mode please

I'm using Windows XP SP3 32bit, tried the directx in various configurations, my laptop doesn't seem to like it, all I get is a black screen when it loads. Using OpenGL I've been able to log in with the 2D client as you suggested on both staff and normal chars, but it doesn't seem to like something around New Haven as it keeps crashing my video driver or simply rebooting my computer. Away from that area it does fine from what I've noticed. However I still can't get the 3D client to log in, keeps giving me the same segfault error. I'm currently using the unstable update, because as you mentioned, I figured it had all the latest fixes. I've tried 3D under just the install version, stable, and unstable version and keep getting the same error.

First, search and install the newest driver for your laptop.

On your Laptop ? Uhm. No good at all.
You have a very of grpahiccard and i don't think its usefull for 3d.

Intel 845G i have found in your posted Ogre.log.

Get the lated driver here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_ ... bmit=Go%21

Maybe try the lowest graphic profiles in your config.lua:

Ok, so I updated the driver and tried both low and ultralow, same thing. I understand that I don't have the top of the line in graphics cards, its what came onboard in the laptop, haven't had any issues with it till now. Does this mean that the 3D client isn't going to work on this machine?

Mh. I know that Iris2 works on Laptops with Intel 950 Chipset.

Intel 845G is very old. You need DirectX9 or OpenGL 1.3 compatibility.

As written on the Intel website
directx9:

-but limited opengl 1.3 compatibility

So the only thing you can do is to try our opengl renderer.

You can also try to install the newest directx runtime -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 15d1d7199d

I don't see a real chance that you ran Iris2 on your hardware :-/.
