If this error remains after running the updater and you think this is a bug
please check the BugTracker at www.iris2.de
and report it if it is not already known.
Please also append the logfile in bin/stacktrace.log to your bugreport.

I've already patched to stable and latest, but it still doesn't work.
Iris also has full Read/Writing permissions on the directory.

OS is Windows Vista 64-bit, 4GB of Ram, Graphics is an Ati Radeon 4870.

thanks in advance

As we wrote on our website 64bit is untested. Currently we have no Vista/Win7 64bit system for testing.

Only Windows XP/Win7 32bit is tested.

Please try to disable fullscreen and enable opengl. Maybe this works :-/ ?

Yes, it's written there, but as a c# developer i'm happy about every bugreport, minor on which system the bug occurs. My fault, I supposed you think as I see it.

Iris workes fine since I deleted the USE_HOME_DIR file.

Strange.

Are you shure, that deleting the USE_HOME_DIR file has something todo that it now works.

Just because, i can see in your logs that it loads the config files, copied to USE_HOME dir.

Code:
LoadShardList   defianceuo.com  C:\Users\Markus Loosli\AppData\Roaming/.iris/con
fig/shards/defianceuo.com.xml   .xml
LoadShardList   Jarrys (chinese)        C:\Users\Markus Loosli\AppData\Roaming/.
iris/config/shards/Jarrys (chinese).xml .xml
LoadShardList   localhost       C:\Users\Markus Loosli\AppData\Roaming/.iris/con
fig/shards/localhost.xml        .xml
LoadShardList   oblivion        C:\Users\Markus Loosli\AppData\Roaming/.iris/con
fig/shards/oblivion.xml .xml

The Bug occours, when Ogre tries to create a Direct3D Window for 3d rendering and an old runtime is installed!?

Code:
>>>gGfxConfig_RenderSystem      >Direct3D9 Rendering Subsystem<
>>>gGfxConfig_Resolution        >1024 x 768 @ 32-bit colour<
>>>gGfxConfig_Fullscreen        >false<

Did you switched to OpenGL?

I switched to Direct3D with all graphic-options marked. After that change Iris crashed @ startup.

I copied back the USE_HOME_DIR and the Bug occured again. Without that file, Iris still works in Direct3D. I think the problem could have something to do with the new home-dir structure introduced with Vista.

When I'm back home, I can Upload the content of the file.

When USE_HOME_DIR is there, iris will ignore the config/ folder in the iris dir, and use the one in your home path instead.
This includes graphics config like using opengl vs directx.

As Ghoulsblade said, if you use USE_HOME_DIR, the graphic options might be changed. The reason is, when you first startup Iris2 with the USE_HOME_DIR file, Iris2 copies the config folder to UserHome.

german lang:
c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\{UserName}\Anwendungsdaten\.iris\

english lang:
c:\Documents and Settings\{UserName}\Applicationdata\.iris\

Howto get there ("Applicationdata" is hidden):

Open "Windows Explorer" and type into the bar "%appdata%. There you should see an ".iris" directory.

This is the config file in the Homedir that Iris created when I first changed the Graphicsettings.

With the launch of Vista, the structure of the homedir changed. The .iris config now can be found under "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\.iris\config".

Code:
<table>
    <table key="globals">
        <boolean key="gUseCaelumSkysystem">true</boolean>
        <boolean key="gEnableBloomShader">true</boolean>
        <boolean key="gbHideMouse">true</boolean>
        <boolean key="gUseWaterShader">true</boolean>
        <boolean key="gUseDistanceFog">true</boolean>
        <string key="gGraphicProfile">ultrahigh</string>
    </table>
</table>

Hope this will help to fix the bug.

Do not use all graphic enhancements :) for the first try.

delete this file (default settings will be applied) or set it to:
Code:
<table>
    <table key="globals">
        <boolean key="gUseCaelumSkysystem">false</boolean>
        <boolean key="gEnableBloomShader">false</boolean>
        <boolean key="gbHideMouse">false</boolean>
        <boolean key="gUseWaterShader">false</boolean>
        <boolean key="gUseDistanceFog">true</boolean>
        <string key="gGraphicProfile">high</string>
    </table>
</table>
