Hi i´m running UO (Mondain's Legacy) on an Genuine Intel CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz (2 CPUs), (DirectMobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family, Intel(R) Calistoga Graphics Controller, DirectX 9.0c).

After running iris2.exe i get to the blank "sunset" screen but i cant do anything. (the client doesent crash but nothin happens).

hi !

hmm strange, normally there should be a menu on the left side of the screen. have you tried using opengl instead (delete bin/ogre.cfg to get config dialog at startup) ?

iris loads some data before the menu is displayed, it usually says so in a textbox at the bottom of the screen, was there anything to read there ?

if you don't start in fullscreenmode there should be a little console window, you can select the text in there by draging with the left mouse and then righclick to copy it.

could you paste this text here ? might give us a clue about whats happening.

First of all! thank you for the quick reply! great support so far :)

Yes i have tried OpenGl and there was something to read on the bottom of the screen.
After i enter the login server etc. the client crashes (I guess my machine has got problems with OpenGl, because of the "video card"... intel graphic controller, notebook).

Please don't use TAB when you enter Name and Password.

Its a small bug in Iris2. Only write your Name and then select with your Mouse the Password field and type in your Password.

Then select Login with your Mouse.

I realized that there is a problem with using tab when entering username and pass but the client still crashes .

Strange. Is there a stacktrace.log in your Iris2\bin directory. If so please put it in our bugtracker.

Yes i have installed the latest directx release and there is a stacktrace.log in my bin dir but this file is empty.

unlikely, but maybe its a path problem, try renaming the "uo mondain's legacy" to "uoml" without spaces and special chars like ' .


if that does't help, please add this block to your data/config.lua

Ok, i added your code to the config.lua and renamed the uoml dict.

btw., client still crases with OpenGl and if i change to Direct3D9 -> blank sunset screen, nothing happens. (stacktrace.log is still empty).

hmm loading seems to finish correctly, so thats not it =(

have you got the latest drivers for you gfx-card ?

we could try if its just the menu that doesn't work by starting the offline-fly-around mode without using the menu.
to do this open data/lua/main.lua in a text editor,
and replace StartMainMenu() near line 181 with StartOfflineMode()

and please post a screenshot of what you see.

by the way, do you see a gauntlet/hand like cursor under the mouse when you move the mouse inside the window with the evening sky ?

Well i´m quite sure i have got installed the latest graphic drivers for my video card.
(The dxdiad Direct 3D-9 test says that everything works fine, btw. i´m using DirectX 9.0c)

I changed the main.lua, just as you told me and i got this result: http://priv.one-network.de/highres.jpg

Its really strange. There is no gauntled like cursor when using Direct3D, i just see the windows standard cursor and as i recently realized there is a menu. If i click onto the position where the menue should be, a bar shows up (the controls work too i guess cause i can move this .. menue?) but it looks more like a graphic bug. Jep got the same problem over here. Looks like D3D is not working on Laptops :) (Tried it on two different machines)
