if you have a very old iris version try removing it and download a fresh copy, otherwise try using the iris updater (in bin dir if you didn't get a shortcut on the desktop).

otherwise please check the FAQ : http://iris2.de/index.php/FAQ to see if there's any hint,

or

send us a screenshot with the error and the black console window, maybe we can see something there.

you can also try switching opengl and directx or vice-versa, to do that delete the bin/ogre.cfg file,
then you'll get the graphics config dialog again.

hi,

if you use the newest Iris2 (stable or unstable) you don't need to install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)".

YOur problem might be, that you use an too old graphic card, too old graphic car drivers or an too old DirectX 9.

Tell us your graphiccard. Update your graphic card drivers to the newest one. Update your DirectX.

If DirectX dosen't work, try to setup Iris2 for OpenGL (you can choose this in the Mainmenu - Graphicsettings).

cheers
